"Foster kids who age out of the system in Texas face new challenges as young adults"
"As a former foster child graduates with her master’s degree, she explains how her home situation has posed additional challenges, like remaining housed and finding a support system." According to Miznazi, every year in Texas, more than 1,200 young adults age out of the foster care system without being adopted (Miznazi 2022).

HOYLE-LTC is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit whose mission is educationally purposed. With the ForwardStar Program, enrolling or enrolled "college or vocational students" will live in the home/dorm while completing their education. We want them to enjoy young adulthood and not have to worry about their next meal, or how they are going to afford gas to get to school, or if they can afford their books. Along with in-house trainings, these young women will be enrolled in nearby external educational institutions.

If you were rescued from a human trafficking or sex trafficking situation by a rescue organization or collaboration, but you have not been a part of the Foster Care system, we will discuss your situation, as well! In some cases, human trafficked victims come from the foster care system, but not all of them.
Donors/Funders: What will your donations pay for? Though we probably won't be able to mention everything, these points below are the most expected. A house/building has not been purchased at this point, and we are hoping for enough donations to either fully purchase one or pay a down payment and closing costs on one.
-
In most cases, a beneficiary from the foster care system will receive vouchers or grants for their education. For some, the education they choose may cost above the limit of the vouchers or grants, or they may need or desire additional classes for their educational field. Donations will hopefully cover what is in excess of this limit so that the beneficiary will not go into debt by incurring student loans. Also, the vouchers do not cover the costs of living, so the beneficiary may end up with financial woes due to rent, utilities, and more. We want to take those burdens and stresses out of their lives during their time as a student.
-
House and insurance payments for a house/building for perpetual use by HOYLE-LTC and its beneficiaries, as well as repairs to any property damage or maintenance needs over time.
-
One or two multi-passenger cars or multi-passenger vans, car insurance, gas and maintenance.
-
Salary for the Head of Program Operations (with a dual position as live-in House Supervisor) and two other staff positions.
The HPO:
>Plans, organizes, monitors, and manages the day-to-day processes and operations of program.
>Interprets and applies mandated guidelines.
>Coordinates, implements, administers, and evaluates the project's progress.
>Trains the beneficiaries in office procedures, budgeting, educational processes, resumes, job searches, document dressing, and more.
>Trains staff and volunteers regarding human trafficking and support systems placed that will aid the beneficiaries.
-

On the fun side, there will be field trips, camping, sports and games, movie night, and so on. We want the beneficiaries to enjoy their stay, as many of them may not have been able to enjoy these things growing up. Participation in team or group activities promotes comradery and cohesive training that helps to build relationships.
These young women, when given the opportunity, can initiate change in their own lives as well as the lives of others. Especially for those who came from similar backgrounds!
Our Mission
To provide shelter, nutrition, equipment, and supplies that will assist young adult women aged 18-21 who are former foster care or human trafficked beneficiaries in the state of Texas to find a career and obtain the education to lead them in that direction.
Whether they were emancipated from the system by aging out, or became runaways/homeless in-process, or rescued from a human trafficking or sex trafficking situation by a rescue organization or collaboration, HOYLE-LTC will assist them by giving them a place to live while obtaining an education through a higher education system. The education may also include obtaining a GED if needed. The main focus is to help these young women get into a training or certification program through a recognized community college or vocational school. This also includes an Associate’s Degree program through a community college. Services will be available to these beneficiaries during their education until completion.
Our Vision
The purpose of our ForwardStar Program is to assist emancipated/former foster care or human trafficked young women who are at the end of their foster care journey and who have made the explicit choice to complete their education through a higher education system.
Our vision is to see as many of these young women as possible get an education and move into a career of choice. It is important to note the word choice! That vision includes seeing a change in a direction keeping them away from homelessness, abuse, hunger, and most importantly, human trafficking, that many of these young women have experienced in the past. HOYLE-LTC hopes to initiate changes in their lives that will move them away from negative circumstances by being there in the early years of their adulthood. Our organization is an educationally focused nonprofit that intends to see as many of these young women attain an education as possible in order to change their future and break the negative cycles of the past.
